Thanks Chris! I certainly can say that I learned a lot from HubSpot and Dan Zarrella this past week. I agree as it provided me with actionable takeaways which can easily be implemented into my current marketing strategies. I eventually plan on training through their Inbound Marketing University, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Appreciate you checking out my post, Tracy! The fact that you're spending time readings blogs and commenting is a clear sign that you are willing to put yourself out there. This is important both in the online and offline world for everyone, especially for college student and recent graduates. Your testimony of landing a job through many of the tactics above, in addition to myself, makes at least two individuals that this worked for. I believe that if others follow, they too will be placed in positions.

Hopefully there will be an decrease in the unemployment level for the population aged between 20 - 24 within the near future. While this may or may not happen in the next few months or years, attending networking events, becoming involved, and following up will certainly open opportunities for those brave individuals. Hands down, the combination of a positive attitude, willingness to learn, strong work ethic, and an extroverted personality will outshine the other candidates. At the very least, I know I'd hire talent like this.

This is great advice Dov! I enjoyed reading, as someone who has just gone through the graduation and job search process. I'm very lucky to have found a job through following many of the tactics that you outlined above. Still, many of my most intelligent and personable friends are coming up dry. I think one of the huge factors is taking a traditional approach--forgetting the networking aspect. Also, setting your stakes too high--being afraid to take something part time or an internship as an intermediate step. While I don't believe that you should settle long term (or even longer short term), you can break down a lot of barriers by just starting. It's also extremely intimidating to attend networking and industry events, and to be sociable and have something to contribute when you're there, without having any work experience at all. But just showing up, asking questions, and being brave is a huge step in the right direction!

I think in 2011 we will also see the begining of the end for email. Use and marketing. Most leading edge folks have stopped using email outside of work. We will see change in 2011.

Also app consolidation. Only the strongest apps will survive.
